Audio Systems: need some help, sony xplod, voice coils

Question
ok i have 2 jbl power 12" that are powered by 2 sony xplod 1000 and a 500 farad power cap and i added 2 6" fans to keep the amps kewl but when i turn my stereo up the amps overheat quick.how can i fix this problem? the speakers are either 2 ohm double voice coil.

Answer
If the amps are wired up correctly and the impedance of the load is properly matched to the amps it should not be overheating.

Here are my suspicions:
1.  You are overdriving the system and expecting too much from the jbls.
2.  There is a short on the speaker line somewhere that you haven't found yet.
3.  The impedance of the speakers are too low for the amps.
4.  If the amps are overheating in a matter of minutes then it is either shorted lines or too low impedance (Like if you have the voice coils in parallel rather than in series).

Hope this helps.
