Audio Systems: JvC kdsx950 cd changer button, cable check, ground connections

I have a jvc kdsx950.  Recently the button that activates the cd changer does not respond.  It just says error on the display.  Previously I had the cd changer cable to mini and had my ipod plugged in.  This was a great setup for the 3 yrs it worked.  Any thoughts?

Are you using the compatible jvc changer?

Check the wiring, cable connections, etc.  Wiggle around to see if a wire has gone open circuit inside a cable.  Check ground connections on the changer and head unit, too.

You may need to reboot the head unit. Do you know how to do that?  Follow the instruction manual that came with the unit.  Or, disconnect the 12v line for 30 minutes, then power it up again.  Sometimes that will clear everything.

If nothing works, you may have to have the system serviced (or replaced; it is getting along in years, so it may not be worthy of any costly repairs in view of the low prices for new units on the market!)
