Audio Systems: ford explorer limited, jvc cd player, custom job

Question
Hi,  I have a 1996 ford explorer limited edition that has the factory jbl system with sub and amp.  i am looking at taking out the stock deck and putting in a jvc cd player.  But...all the wiring harnesses i buy to do this don't connect to the vehicles harness.   any suggestions or am i just buying the wrong harnesses???  thank you

Answer
Can't help you specifically without the model numbers and details of the vehicle.

However, you can do this yourself.  Go to www.installer.com and click on their wiring link and find the harness that they recommend.

Also, crutchfield.com is good.  Call their 800 number and they can send you the right harness for converting the sytems.  (If there is one; if not, you would have to do a custom job - either yourself or an install shop).

If you go to:

http://installdr.com/InstallDocs/FLM/PDF/356007.pdf

you can get the wiring chart with colors and installation procedures, etc.  That may be very helpful for you with the installation.

I went to http://www.installer.com/wires/  and found a long series of Ford harnesses; maybe if you go through it you can find the one you need.

Hope this helps.
