Audio Systems: Computer to stereo hookup., stereo hookup, rca male

Question
I have a DiVinci DV-606 home system and I want to hook up a computer/laptop for sound and if possible I would also like to connect the visual to the receiver as well. I'm not sure what components I will need to do the job, any advice would be great. Thank you.

Answer
Just to be clear I am not an expert in consumer electronics. Having said that the DiVinci system is no different then most recivers out there. A/V receivers are not able to process a VGA signal which is what your computer generates to a video monitor. A/V receivers generally only process video. If your heel bent on doing it, there are converters out there that would down convert VGA to video causing serious degradation of signal.

Now the audio out of a computer can surely be plugged into a line input (usually Aux, Tape, DVD audio, Tuner input)of your receiver. For that you only need a cable stereo RCA male to a 3 conductor mini connector. RCA's to the receiver and mini plug to the PC audio out.
