Audio Systems: AM static in 2005 Dodge Stratus, toyota solara, dodge durango

I just purchased a 2005 Dodge Stratus 4dr. It has the std AM-FM CD radio from the factory. The AM reception is very low and weak. It is also filled with static so you can barely hear. Car has a std antenna mounted on the rear fender. How can this be fixed?

The FM reception is OK but weak in the outer areas of the station range. In my Dodge Durango & Toyota Solara the FM reception is perfect in the same areas. How can the be fixed?

this is the most you will get dodge crysler radios don't have the bes tunners and they don't care much about am
a booster antenna  will help also check to see if the prvious owner didn't install a cd changer or fm modulator behind the radio
that can be part of the problem
