Answer
Did you obtain the wiring harness for your car or are you going wire to wire?

If you obtain the correct wiring harness it is just a matter of connecting to the unit and plug it into the car system.  But if you are doing your own wiring you must have the correct wiring information for your car OR trace out the wires individually so you know exactly which pair of wires go to the left front speaker and so on.

The above site has wiring and installation procedures and instructions for GM cars.  This site is for the 94 caprice or impala but I think it is very close to the same if not the exact equal to the grand prix.

Make sure you have two 12 v lines connected. One comes through from the battery and provide constant 12v. The other comes from the ignition and is for turning the set ON.

Then, of course, check and recheck the wires from the audio outputs to the speakers. If you think the unit is now powering up but the speaker are not talking, disconnect the speakers at the back of the unit and connect just one speaker directly with a short wire directly to the speaker.  This will verify if the unit is putting out; then check each channel this way one by one; then go back and find out why the audio power is not getting to the installed speakers.

Hope this will help you troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
