Audio Systems: over powering subwoofers, amp fuse, watt amp

Question
I have 2 mtx rt10-44 subs that i need to run power to. A friend of mine offered me a 600 watt amp to use but i dont know if that much power will hurt my subs. Is there a way i can wire them to limit the power and also what guage wire should i run from my battery with what size fuse will i need to be safe.

Answer
You certainly can limit that amp, just reduce the gain controls on the inputs. You really don't need to, as most amps are rated impossibly high for what they put out in real world conditions. Rule of thumb; crappy amps can blow expensive speakers, but excellent amps rarely blow crappy speakers.
4 gauge wire with a 100 amp fuse should be plenty big, as long as you route it the shortest way possible.
