Audio Systems: Dual XD7500 removal, chevy cavalier, radio unit

Question
I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier that I just bought and it has a Dual XD7500 in it and I am having the hardest time trying to get it out to put in my Kenwood, all I have established so far in the past 4 plus hours is getting the faceplate off. I have the removal keys that go to my Kenwood but they don't seem to be helping in this case. I even went to AutoZone and no help there either.

Answer
You will need a removal tool.  You can find them in such places as installer.com and autotoys.com and crutchfield.

It may depend on the installation kit used when the Dual was installed, so you may have to check that installation and from that determine weather there are bending tabs or spring releases employed.

You may have to purchase a special mounting bracket or kit to install the Kenwood.

One of the reasons I like crutchfield.com is they will tell you if the new unit will fit and what kits and wiring harness you may need. If you purchase the radio unit from them they will supply the installation kits with it and send installation instructions.

You will have to do a little research on your own to get the right tools AND to make sure you have the right hooking up and installation hardware for the new radio unit from Kenwood.

Best wishes,

PS: Autozone won't be much help; BestBuy or CircuitCity may be able to help you; more likely anyway.
