Audio Systems: how to remove a 2003 envoy cd/radio, cd radio, e bay

how do i get the plastic dash that surrounds the radio off.and how do i pull the radio out of the dash my cd player quit working and id like to see if its fixable before replacing. my friend said it was a vin style.Any help is appreciated

He is correct, you need a special adapter to replace that radio with an after market unit. Even if you swap in another factory unit, the dealer has to reset the code / serial number and yes they will charge you to do so.
As for fixing the CD yourself, unless a cleaning CD fixes it, give up. GM CD players are junk, and not repairable by the user. You could send it away for repair, but it would be cheaper to just replace it with an identical unit off e-bay.
