Audio Systems: Problem with truck radio, windsheild wipers, windsheild wiper

Question
I have a 1996 dodge ram and one day i decided to put an after market cd player in my truck. when i was unpluging my old radion it started to smoke a litte bit so i put the new one in and turned it on and there was power but no sound. So i put the old one back in and one day i hit my windsheild wiper button and the radion turned on, and only the rear speakers work and the new cd plaeyer will still not work when i hit the wiper button , but the orginal radio works all the time but i have to hit the windsheild wipers to get it to turn on and when i turn it up it cuts out and there is no sound.

Answer
You obviously have it wired wrong.  There are two 12v lines that must feed the radio/player. One comes direct from battery and the other from ignition (to turn on the set).  You must make sure these are wired correctly.

Speakers are best connected by using the proper wiring harness that converts the car system to the aftermarket unit you purchased.

With the problem you have now you will probably need to start over and debug the whole system.

You can get alot of help by going to
