Audio Systems: Mixing and matching, true rms, sony model

Question
Hi I have a Mini Hi-Fi component system brand : SONY , model no MHC-GRX8.
I also have a stereo integrated amplifier brand: AKAI, model no AM-UO2.
I wish to drive the speakers of the GRX8 with the akai amplifier whose output power is 45 TRUE RMS watts/channel. I do not know the power handling capacity of the GRX8 speakers. Could you advise me as to how to go about this?

Answer
There is no such thing as rms watts.  I don't know why the manufacturers continue to use this improper term.... but that is not related to your question.  Sorry for the side step.

The speakers from the Sony Mini system will work just fine when connected to the receiver.  They are not so powerful in their rating as the amp. Therefore, you must be careful not to turn up the volume too loud.  Doing so may damage the speakers.  But, you will hear distortion and overload sounds before they go out, so just be sensible about the level setting on the volume control  of your Akai amplifier.

Let me know if you have further questions.
