Audio Systems: No sound from speakers, rca rs, headphone jack

Hey,
I don't know how to fix the problem with my audio system.  It is a RCA - RS 2640, if that info helps.  Well I tried to see if the speakers went bad, so put a pair of headphones into the unit and there still was no sound.  Is there something I can do to fix the problem? Do I need to buy a new unit because this was about $150 and I'm trying to avoid paying a repair person that same amount of money or more. Thanks for you time.

Sounds like there is a break inside, probably in the headphone jack where it is soldered to the circut board. That would cause no audio output on both. Not much point having it repaired, most shops would charge more than it's worth.
Unless you know someone handy with a soldering iron...
Perhaps find a used one on e-bay?
