Audio Systems: about wiring on an aftermarket stero, dodge ram truck, car chassis

Question
I have ran into a slight Problem.  I have a 98 dodge ram truck, up until now, the factory radio has been in the truck. Recently i decided to put in a after market stero.  i have my power wires hooked up, and speaker wires, problem is, the factory radio had an illumination wire, and the stero being installed does not require the wire. the wire is hot when when the headlights are on, my question is where do i need to run that wire to   to finish the installation.  thanks, jesse

Answer
Then put tape over the end to avoid any shorts if it accidentally shorts against some metal part of the car chassis.

If the new radio unit does have a lighted panel their would be a connection for the wire to light it up. If the display panel seems to be working ok, then tape the extra wire and say "good deal".
