Audio Systems: Cd player shuts off at high volume while car is on, ohm load, gauge wire

Question
Why does my cd player shut off for a split second when at high volume when car is on? I put in a new battery, alternator and i have 2 12" audiobahn aw1205n with a 2400watt audiobahn HCT2300 amplifier and i just installed a batcap model 800 thinking it would do the trick but nothing. the light on my cd player dims and my headlights still dim and at high volume it shuts off the cd player and amp for a second then comes back on just to do it again unless i turn it down. What do i need for this not to happen?

Answer
You've got some pretty serious gear wrapped up in the car!  I wonder about the wiring.  If the booster cap is too far away from the amp it won't help. It must be near the amp and connected with big gauge wire.  Wire coming from the battery to the amp must be big gauge as well.

If you are pumping out deep sustained bass that will drain off the charge on the booster cap and if the wires from the battery are small gauge the voltage will drop too low.

If you have a vom, put it at the battery connection and watch the voltage with loud bassy music and see if it is dropping below 10v.

Next:  Check the wiring and the impedance of the woofers.  If they are dual 4s and you have them all in parallel you have only 1 ohm load.  That may be too low for the amp to drive under severe bass content.  Try reducing the impedance by taking out one of the woofers to see if that lightens up the amp.

Let me know more after trying above suggestions.
