Audio Systems: Sound Quality Measuremean, measurement method, quality measurement

Question

Sound Quality Measurement
=========================

Hi,

I would like to know how to measure the sound quality produce by a load speaker unit.

The common method to measure the speaker is by plot a SPL graph from 20Hz~20KHz, also plot a Ohm graph that can show the speaker fo.
But this method only able to show us the sound range and resonance.

My question One,
do you have any measurement method can determeans,
1. Clear Sound
2. Good sound
3. Good bass / Deep bass
4. Wide range
5. Audiophile

My question Two,
How do judge a good sound / bad sound, good bass/ bad bass, clear sound/blur sound,
do you have guide line for a beginner?
Also, how the experts judge a spkear sound? how they make the decision either good or bad.

Thank you.

Answer
The 1st question can best be dealt with by experience and well trained ears (outside of knowing how to setup and use a Real Time Analyzer, SQ is a very 'subjective' category).
The best 'guide' is to go hang out with some people that truly have good sounding, two channel home systems. No one is 'born with it', it must be learned by practical listening experience. Not SPL contests, not from books (though I could write volumes on the basics of what to seek as to experience).
Since this is a public question, this is about the best I can do for you.
If you repost is and use the private question option, I can elaborate, but the best school is experience. This is why you never see teenagers (and rarely people that are in their 20's) as judges in respectable contests. Sadly, most young people lean towards SPL and their ears are ruined (for judging SQ) before they are 30.
