Audio Systems: Pacifica Install Subwoofer and upgrade speakers, alpine car audio, stereo wiring diagrams

Question
Hi Kelly,

You are right, the sound quality is really bad, all speakers.

Can you advise what I should replace the standard speakers with? There is a tweeter and a mid in each front door and a mid in each back door. I also have a working speaker in the middle, I guess for surround sound.

Thanks,
John

Question
In response to other post ('2007 Pacifica Subwoofer install'): 'allexperts' auto email failed to supply response link.

Sorry for the confusion.
Q1) Even though I do not have the oem sub/amp combo, are there signal wires behind the blank grille that I can tap to supply the signal to an after market powered sub?
Q2) If there is a signal wire behind the blank grille is the signal already crossed over for a sub (i.e. @ 80hz) or is it full range?
Q3) What is the possibility of powering an oem sub with a after market amp (install a salvage sub/enclosure but use my own amp)?
Q4) What was the size of the oem sub? If I were to install the oem enclosure could I use a third party sub for upgrade?

Does this clear things up? Thanks.

Answer
A1) No, those wires are dead without the upgraded amp/brain
A2) See A1
A3) Anything is possible
A4) About an 8 inch single voice coil. There is no room for anything larger.

Have you upgraded ALL the other speakers yet? If not, you really should. They suck.

Answer
Depending on your budget, you could swap in some 6.5 inch 2 way speakers in all 4 doors, leaving the tweeters and center speaker as is. Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion, etc, all make excellent replacements. If you want even more, you could go up another level, swap out the OEM tweeters, and put 6.5 inch component sets up front. This usually works best when a larger amp is added as well.
