Audio Systems: Car Radio, speaker terminals, car radio

Question
Hi, I asked a question about my car about a week ago involving the radio turning on but no sound coming out. Well i got help at best buy from someone who told me that if i just hook up all my speakers one by one until i find the one that doesnt work. Well i unhooked one speaker from the cd deck and my radio suddenly began to work. Now this worked for a while then the sound suddenly cut out again. Every time i start my car it will work anywhere from 1/2 a second to about 5 minutes. I noticed that it cuts out many times (Not all) when i change things such as the track or the volume. But it always cuts out. I am thinking about going to best buy and getting them to rewire all my speakers for $14. Before i spend any money on it i was wondering if that is even necessary or if there is another problem. What should i do?

Answer
There may be a wire shorting to ground, and there may be more than one. If the wires touch each other or ground it will cause the short you describe. If they will do the re-wire for that cheap, go for it, but know if any speakers are loose they may be causing the short to ground. The speaker terminals may be touching the metal of the car door for instance.
