Audio Systems: car audio, jvc ks, toyota camry

Question
I have a 1999 Toyota Camry with a JVC KD-G515 headunit running 2xClarion 300W 6x9 rear speakers and 2xJVC 6" front speakers the exact models im not sure but i can obtain if helpful. The system was working perfectly but i recently added an amp and subwoofer to the equation. the amp is a JVC KS-AX6700 which runs an MTX RT15-04 subwoofer in an enclosure. The amp is bridged. Since I installed the amp and sub my CD's seem to skip constantly especially if i fiddle with the bass or volume on the headunit or wen i turn "loud" on on the headunit. Why is this happening? and what can be done to fix it? do i need a different headunit? any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

Answer
there's 2 basic reasons this can happen.  one is if the cd player is prone to skipping already, like going over larger bumps, railroad tracks, potholes, etc makes it skip easy, then it's possible that the sub is shaking your car to the point where it's making the cd skip.
very inexpensive cd players are more prone to vibration than more expensive ones.  this once seems middle of the road so I doubt this is the problem.  maybe if its older and the lens on the laser pickup inside is dirty then it would be subject to this.  Is your cd player very prone to skipping when going over bumps?

If not then the 2nd reason would be power draw.  look at the lights in your car and the lights on the cd player at night and tell me if they are dimming significantly to the beat of the music.  if the cd player's display dims then that drop in power will make it "skip"

let me know and we'll work from there.
