Audio Systems: no sound to speakers, rca output, pre amp

Question
i recently bought a alpine 9857 from a friend i no it worked before i got it, but when i installed it everything turned on but no sound came to my speakers. Ive installed many decks so i no the wiring and fuses are good, ive been told its most likly the pre amp which i want to no if its fixable or replaceable. i dont want to get screwed on this deal cause i love the deck and it still turns on

If the pre amp is OK, the RCA output(s) will still work. If you test them (plug in some powered PC speakers with an adapter) and still nothing, the AMP IC is burnt. If there is no sound the pre amp is burnt. Either way, check with a local repair shop for prices. You may be better off with a new radio.
