Audio Systems: New car cd player, car cd player, vauxhall corsa

Ive recently installed my car cd player into a vauxhall corsa 03 plate, Im just wondering why i lose memory eg lose stored radio stations everytime i turn off the ignition. I also can not turn the cd player on unless i have the car keys in the ignition, have i wired something wrong? Would be gratefull for any help.

most likely yes, you wired it wrong.
there are 3 wires for power and USUALLY they are:
black - ground
red - ignition
yellow - memory

the red one should only be hot when the key is in the "acc" or "on" or "run" positions.  the yellow wire needs to have 12 volts positive on it all the time, even when the key is out, car is off, kids in bed, etc.  this is what keeps the memory like the stations and stuff.
if you have a meter you can use it to find the right wires and hook'm up correctly.  if you don't have a meter you can get one at walmart for like 18 bucks. if you need help using it you can certainly write me back any time you want.
