Audio Systems: radio/cd player not working, infinity sound, mail message

QUESTION: I have a 2001 Chrysler 500M with an Infinity sound system.  My battery went dead and we recharged it.  Since then, the radio and cd player does not work and the lights on the balance control are flashing.  We checked the fuses and they are ok.  HELP
ANSWER: Is it asking for a code to be entered?  I don't know if this model has the anti-theft feature or not. If it does, you must dig through your ownership papers for the theft code, as the radio will require this code whenever the power is lifted from it.

If not, then you must first reset the radio system.  This is done by pulling the 12v from it so there is no power at all. The easiest way of doing it, for certain positive, is to pull the 12v cable from the battery under the hood of the car.  Lift it off for at least 20 minutes, then power the radio up again and see if that has cleared it.

If the reset does not solve the problem it may be defective and need servicing.  

If you know how to remove the radio and can pull it out and do some testing on it, I can give you some instructions on how to check it out, if that will help.  Let me know.

QUESTION: The e-mail message said would only be available for 3 days.  How do I let you know if it worked or not? I want to respond, hopefully, as fast as you did for an answer.

The email says, rather, that you should expect a reply within 3 days. Actually, most experts answer them within the same day or at least in the next. Some even answer within the hour.

In my case, if I am gone away for any time at all I post a vacation schedule and it prevents you from asking until I get back from my travels.

You can go to the allexperts.com question asking to reach me. If it says maxed out it means that someone else has already used up the number of questions Ihave authorized for the day.  My more dedicated questioners usually try to get in late at night as the new day opens up and get their question in before the bucket is full!
