Audio Systems: rear speakers, amplifier section, volt battery

Question
QUESTION: hey
i have a 2002 honda accord 2dr coupe.
i just realized my 2 back speakers are not giving me any sound.
the front one are fine. how do i know if it a connection, or the speakers are blown??
ANSWER: check the fade first.  the stereo should have a knob or setting called fade which can make the fronts louder than the rears or vice versa.  it may be faded all the way to the front.  you want to set it pretty much in the middle.
if that's not it let me know.

QUESTION: hey
thats the 1st thing i tried, the fade is fine.

Answer
figured, sorry for that!  there's basically 3 things that could be the culprit.

1. the speakers are blown.  easy test is to unhook the wires that go to them, usually accessible from inside the trunk, and VERY BRIEFLY connect a 9 volt battery across the speaker's terminals ( NOT THE WIRES THAT GO TO THE CD PLAYER,  THE LITTLE TERMINALS WHERE THE PLUG WAS!!)  the speaker should make a loud click when the battery touches both of the speaker terminals together.  if there's no click, the speaker is shot.

possibility #2 is that the amplifier section in the cd player blew out.  if you perform the same test as above and the speaker makes the click with the battery but the speaker still doesn't work off the cd player when hooked back up, this may be your problem.

possibility #3 would be a wiring problem,  check connections at the speakers first, then at the cd player, to troubleshoot wiring more in depth you'll need a meter to do it right.  you can get a meter at walmart for like 18 bucks.

good luck and let me know how it goes.
