QUESTION: I was given the subwoofer by my cousin and all i know is that its a clarion 600 Watt PA12-S pro audio series. im not sure of the exact specifications of the sub. I dont know if this will be of any more help in determining what sort of amplifier is required. thanks heaps for taking the time to help me. It's really appreciated. Thanks again.

Answer
man I looked everywhere, I found pictures but almost no specs.  even clarion's website it was nearly impossible to find it!  weird.
Oh well we know its rated for 600 watts which is the peak power, so we're looking for an amp that's rated for 300 watts RMS.  but we did find the most important part which is that it's a single 4 ohm voice coil.
check out this link here where I finally found it:

so, now the question is what amp for this.  depending on if you have a brand preference or just want a good bang for the buck amp, etc, I may recommend different things.
My favorite bang for the buck company is power acoustik, so I'd recommend this amp right here:

good luck and let me know what you think.
