Audio Systems: poor a.m. reception, pioneer deh 1600 cd player, pioneer deh 1600

Cleggsan I just bought a new car equippedwith a Pioneer DEH-1600 cd player in it. For some reason I have great f.m. reception but very poor a.m. reception no matter where I'm at. This model is supposedly a great tuner unit. What gives?

Probably a loose connection, corrosion or faulty cable. AM is famous for these kinds of troubles.

First, check the cable going from the antenna to the back of the radio.  Check the antenna is going up and down - if it is a power antenna.  Check the cable connection to the antenna, etc. etc.

That will probably yield a solution for the radio.  If not, the tuner section may have trouble in the AM section.
