Audio Systems: amp upgrade, watts rms, decent amp

Question
I am currently running a JVC KS-AX3300 2-channel
65 watts RMS x 2 amplifier bridged into a single 12" JVC CS-GD4300 12" 4-ohm subwoofer in a ported box.

I get a decent kick from the current setup but i was planning on trading my amp out for a Profile AP1000
2-channel car amplifier
160 watts RMS x 2.

I was wondering if this setup would work and if it will increase the bass in my system?

Answer
'in a ported box' is likely most of the problem and pretty vague.
The enclosure is the most important part of the equation, esp in a budget subwoofer system.
They recommend a 1.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure.
The speakers' sensitivity rating is also an issue since it only puts out 85Db with 1 watt of power.

The JVC amp (although only sending 180 watts rms in bridged 4 ohm mode) is a decent amp and I would use one of those over just about any Profile.
Try the 1.5' sealed enclosure and if you cannot afford a more sensitive speaker (>90Db at 1 watt), you will need more power if the new enclosure does not do the trick.
However, be aware that doubling the power to it will only give you a 3Db increase in output. A good box is paramount.

I could go on and on about what would help and why, but since this is a public question I will not.
