Audio Systems: Installing an amp to a factory radio, external amplifier, sosche

Question
I have a 2006 malibu and i wanted to no how i could hook up an amp to the factory radio. I bought a low level input/output thing by sosche but i dont understand why i need to cut the speaker wires to connect it to the level thang.

Answer
It is due to the fact your head end unit does not have audio outputs to feed the external amp.  So, cutting into the speaker leads from the head will be necessary to feed them to the input of the amp; then the other end of the cut is connected to your new amplifier.

Also, since the output from the head is too high in voltage level, the schoshe box brings the level down to match the input requirements of your external amplifier.

So, if you follow the directions it will work just fine.  Schoshe is the definitive company for interface matching.

Best wishes,
