Audio Systems: fm static, mp3 cd player, factory radios

Question
I had an alpine mp3 cd player put in my 2006 diesel ford van.  Model number CDA-9856. The FM station has so much static like an AM station would have and the AM station is like the FM station should be.  But lately the AM station just started having static too.  They have tried 2 other radios also.  They did their own wiring and not sure if it is that because when they put the Ford's stock radio back in on Ford's wiring it's perfect.  I can't use the Ford radio because I also added a tv/dvd and I want to have it played through the speakers.  Any thoughts as to why it is happening?

Also do you know of a great sounding speak?  I have tried 2 kinds and they are still not the greatest.  I did add an amp and woofer.  Please let me know your thoughts.

THX for your time.

Answer
strangely enough I've always found factory radios to have much better reception than after market radios.  so you're probably going to get worse reception anyway.  but the after market radios need an adapter to fit right.  I doubt the guyz that did your radio were so sloppy that they just stuck the ford antenna in without the adapter but it's possible.  if you can pull your radio out you should be able to see if the antenna connection is good an tight or if it needs an adapter or something.

if you want a great set of speakers I always recomend the polk db components.  if your doors take 6.5" speakers then get the polk db 6500. if they only fit oval 6x8s or 5/14s then get the polk db 5250.  if you get them from www.crutchfield.com they'll give you addapter brackets to make them fit in your vehicle.
