Audio Systems: adding audio amps and speakers into a computer, audio amps, audio amplifiers

Question
trying to develop a nice sounding audio system in the same box as a computer.  Am using a Flying Mole APS20 and NXT HARP speakers.  Need to control the volume and quality of the sound coming from the onboard audio from a VIA EPIA 8000E system.  Using on a bigger system the Analog Digital DSP, but wonder if this is needed or can we simply simply use the analog out from the motherboard to the Flying Mole amplifiers, or is a preamp needed?

Answer
Check the specifications on the APS20; if the input sensitivity is 1v or less you will not need an intermediate preamplifier.

Most amplifiers follow the EIA standards for audio amplifiers which is 1v sensitivity to drive the amplifier to full outpus; most are .5 v or thereabouts; most low level audio ouputs are 1v or close to it; this way the interface from one manufacturer to another is uniform.

Hoping it works okey.
