Hi Barry,

Sorry to say but the circuitry that handles the volume and the amp can fail but the fan can keep working.  You can try to take it for repair but usually the cost of having something like this repaired is close to the cost of buying a replacement.

Since it doesn't work, if you're adventurous, open it up and see if you can find anything obvious, like a lose wire, or perhaps a blown fuse.  A fuse can blow but again, the fan should be run directly off the power supply so it keeps running even if something else fails.  I had a problem like this once and it was that simply, just had to resolder a wire that'd come loose.  Good luck!  Cheers, Wink
