Audio Systems: phono/cassette, google searches, cassette systems

Question
My vintage Sony component system finally died.  I'm looking for something for a
mid-size living room with decent sound, but the key is to include a turntable
and dual tape deck, either built in, or with receiver that they can be added as
separate components.  Looked around on internet and don't see anything except
cheap junk models.  Looking maybe in the $300 to $$5 or 600 range.  Is that
reasonable.

Answer
No.  Not reasonable.  They just don't make these items anymore.  Cassette systems and tt systems are obsolete. It will be difficult to find anything that will please you in a complete system.

You can assemble your own system from separate components and get a good set up for the money you mentioned.

I froogled for a receiver, dual deck and turntable.  The ones above are just examples of many that you might find available doing froogle or google searches.  Also, Radio Shack has some offerings, but their sound quality may not be up to your interest level.

Most of todays audio entertainment systems are designed around surround sound with 5.1 or 7.1 audio and connections to the video system.  So, you might take a look there, also, but you will still need separate deck and tt.

Does this help? Let me know more.
