Audio Systems: monsoon sound systeam, car stereo installation, premium systems

Question
I have a 2003 grand am and I recently bought a JVC receiver to replace my existing stock receiver. When I went to have it installed I was told that I have a monsoon sound system and I could not replace the receiver without rewiring my entire sound system in my car. I was also told by a friend that there might be a box that I could purchase which will allow me to hook my speakers into it and then hook the box into my new receive is this true and will it work

Answer
well. the monsoon system has an amplifier in the car somewhere that needs to be triggered to turn on,  that should be about it basically.  alot of times they recomend rewiring everything simply because these "premium" systems in cars (especially bose) are notorious for blwoing out and being difficult or nearly impossible to interface to. with the bose systems, I always recomend gutting it and starting over, but for the monsoon you may just need to figure out what wire is what and cut and splice.  I highly recomend getting a wiring harness so you dont have to cut the old wires in your car, this way if you screw it up or the new stereo wont work for whatever reason you can just plug the old monsoon radio back in.
you should be able to go to www.crutchfield.com and fill out "find what fits my car" and go to car stereo installation and wiring harnesses.
Let me know if you want to try this and if you need any help.
