Question
i have an alpine cda 7564 cassette unit it works fine. the problem is with the face i have no lcd light to view the clock and stations but i can change the stations and listen to them how can i fix this or do ineed to get a new face?

Answer
I always hate to bring bad news, but SOMETHING will have to be replaced.

To make matters worse, its unlikely that Alpine still has stock of replacement faceplates.  Even if they did, you may find that the cost (not to mention the hoops you have to jump through) may be just as much as a new unit.

Still, it's worth checking into.  The smoothest way to do this would be to gather your manual and receipt and/or box (if you still have them - specifically, Alpine will want to see that you still have the UPC as proof of purchase) and head over to the place where you purchased the unit and have them do the legwork.   DO NOT REMOVE THE STEREO, let them see that its still installed.

If you can't take it to the original store you may be able to find a car stereo store nearby that deals in Alpine - the smaller shops are usually better than the big "Best Buy" type stores.

I have also had some luck with my Pioneer in the past by calling the 800 number in the back of my manual and dealing with the factory directly for a new faceplate, but I do have some inside connections.  Still, it cost me $150, so brace yourself...

Good luck!
