I have a 300 WATT amp that i want to hook up to my home stereo. i know that u have to have a power supply converter but how many amps do you think this amp will take and do you know any cheap places to get power supply converters.

most amplifiers have fuses built in.  its recomended to supply the amplifier with the amount of amps that these fuses add up to.

I've had success with computer power supplies like this one:

basically you want to find the one with the closest rating to the total of your fuses, or the highest +12volt amp rating.  this one's rated for 40 amps.
