i just bought a new cd player for my car. i took the old one out but i have no idea what color wires match

you really should get a wiring harness, it will keep you from needing to cut the old wires, and will convert the wires to industry standard colors that match the cd player you already have.  
You can get some at walmart but if they dont have the exact one you need, I like www.crutchfield.com
