Audio Systems: Car Sterio Static, rf interference problems, sony mp3 cd player

I have 93 mercedes with a Sony Mp3 Cd Player 52w.  My car has 6 speakers, two front, two back and two side.  When all speakers are connected and the car egnition is off, you can turn the volume all the up, no static.  When you turn the engnition on, you turn up afte half way and you get horrible static.  Is there a way to fix this?

The ignition system will often create rf energy that is picked up by the entertainment system.

Have you consulted an MB dealer for the spark arrestors or other interference devices that may be causing the problem?

Also, there may be grounding problems with the installation.  There may be, as well, rf interference problems with the Sony unit, although Sony does a pretty good job of making the rf free.

Install/repair shops deal with these problems daily and they may have the right parts that can be installed quickly that will suppress the noise interference.  I suggest you take it into them for the quickest and best solution.
