Audio Systems: CD Audio Cuts in and Out, maximum power output, cd palyer

Question
Hello Mark, I ran into a problem when I replaced an old tape player out of my boat with a new DEH-1800 CD player. As soon as I wired up the new deck it would play audio with the radio on but as soon as I put the CD palyer on the deck cuts in and out as soon as the volume reaches 10. My voltage is good at 12.9VDC and I'm reading a max of 750mA returning on my negative terminal of the battery. It doesn't seem to be that high. My maximum power output on the new deck is 50W*4 and the speakers are 40Watts nom. and 80Watts max. I've disconnect every Speaker and the deck works fine as soon as I hook up one of the speakers it starts cutting out again. It sure doesn't seem that power should be a problem here, any advice?

Answer
well, it should be drawing more than 750ma while playing.
I would remove the cd player and put your meter across the posative and negative RIGHT AT the cd player. I bet your 12.9 volts will drop to about 10.8 as you turn it up and it will shut off. remember there are 2 power wires, usually red and yellow to test them both)
If so you need to beef up the wiring there.
Tell me what you find.
Good luck!
