-----Question-----
We have a 400 amp peavy sound board with a dvd hookup. When we play the a dvd in the system, our speakers work  ok then  after about 1 hour or more the dvd system  sounds as if the speakers are blown. We have had the amp checked an all ways ok. We replace the dvd and still same result. We also run a mike through the pa system. Any answers as why this would be happening.

try running the dvd's audio into other inputs on the board sometime off gig and see if it still fails. i suspect the tech didn't run it on dummy loads with outputs displayed on a scope to see the problem. i'd (if it were here with me)open it up, hook it up with loads on outputs and run it as you told me you did and try to make it fail, then with the help of a can of freeze spray, try to isolate what's overheating, and find out why. i suspect the outputs are failing, but that's just an opinion without actually seeing the unit...

if you don't have any electronic repair knowledge, i would definately say no. you could try a different set of speakers to verify that it's not something in the speakers' internal crossovers.

Answer
your spkr cabs each have a crossover inside, this splits the sound to the woofer, mid, horn, etc. this keeps the lows out of your horn or tweeter, and keeps highs out of your woofer. peavey sells parts or directs you to parts distributers, but you need to check board out with other speakers first, if board does same thing with other speakers, then it's a problem with the board. also, you can't 'piggy-back' any speakers with that powered board system. that will cause problems with the amp.
