Audio Systems: 6-disc changer, elvis costello, lou reed

I have 2003 Explorer with a factory 6 disc changer.  The cd player has decided to keep 3 of my cd's and one belonging to my wife.  I don't remember which cd of her's it has but the three of mine are old Lou Reed, The Clash and Elvis Costello.  I'd really like to get them back.  The changer won't play or eject and when you start the vehicle it reads "CD error".  Can the changer be "reset"?

No, it's jammed. Best to remove it and take it apart to get your discs. I know it takes time, but if your remove enough screws, it is possible. Then have a nice head unit installed, with perhaps an ipod instead of a changer. No more mechanical failures.
