Audio Systems: Bose CD error code for 6 CD changer, nissan maxima, optimum adjustment

Hi,
I have an '02 Nissan Maxima with a Bose 6 CD changer. I haev been playing home burned CD-R's since I bought it with no problem. Recently , I have been getting a "CD ERR F3" code and CD's will not play. It is intermittent. Sometimes it works fine. It doesn't seem to matter if I use CD-R's or "store bought" CD's. Any suggestions?   Thanks!

A player that old will not reliably play cdrs.  You are lucky if it plays them at all.  Temperature, humidity and other factors become issues.

And, it is possible the player has gone out of optimum adjustment  - which will trigger the error codes.

Is it playing ordinary cds okey?  Is it playing previous cdrs that played okey to begin with?

The make of the disc and the machine they were cut on has an effect, also.

Why not switch over to iPod or mp3 player or something like that?  This unit has an external input that would allow you to plug in a portable device I think.
