-----Question-----
I have a set of tower speaker. They have four connectors on the back. Two red and two black. They our for a banana connection. Do I have to use all four for the speakers to work and if so how. Thanks
-----Answer-----
All depends.  Sometimes the are biamped products and require a separate amplifier to drive the woofer drivers.  Other times they are different connections to the crossover network. (In fact some use external crossovers and you must have additional components to drive them properly).

Here is my suggestion:  Go to the manufacturers web site and download the owners or operating manual for your model and find out what connections they are using.

If they are Duntech products, let me know as they are very special and require certain amplifiers to drive them.

OR: you can give me the make and model and I will tell you exactly how to wire them up.

WARNING: Dont' hook them up until you know for sure which connections go where.  Damage can be done, for example, if you put a lot of low frequency power into the tweeters.

SO: These units are biampable; that is why  the two sets of speaker connectors.  If you are going to biamp them you must have two stereo amplifiers.  One drives the upper drivers and the other the woofer/low frequency radiators.

THEN: If you are going to drive them with one amp, you must connect the bottom two and the top two connections to gether.  In other words, connect the two blacks together and the two reds together and connect to the output of the amp conventionally.

Fire them up gently:  Volume control at minimums, then turn on the amplifiers and cranking up the volume very slowly until you are sure you have them connected properly.

These were around $1500/pair when new, but they are no longer manufactured and you can buy them on places like eBay for under $500 now days.

I don't know about their sound quality, but they look good.
