Audio Systems: 1993 Acura Vigor, acura vigor, fuse boxes

Question
my radio seems to be dead, but I know it is getting power(when I turn it on the power antenna goes up when I turn on the radio) is this possible this problem can be resolved with the unlock code...there are no lights or any other signs that the radio is working

Answer
Just because the antenna goes up does not mean the radio unit is getting power.

There are two or three power circuits to the radio.  One stays on all the time - to keep the presets and other things alive.  The other comes from the ignition - which is used to turn the unit ON.

It could have a bad fuse (The acura has two fuse boxes; one under the hood and one inside the car near the steering column).  Some also have a line fuse just before the radio unit.

If the radio is in lock it would still come on and you would see something displayed on the display.

So, I would check the 12v line power to the radio unit itself and see if a bad fuse or such is the problem.  If it is a bad fuse it could be an indication of further problems inside the radio.

A car radio shop can quickly identify the problem - they face this problem every day with their customers.

Good Luck,
