QuestionI would like to know how to build my own speaker box for the back of my car please help me the size of the 2 speakers are 12 inches each. Give me as much info as possible ASAP. Thank you.
Answerwell, you asked the wrong guy to give as much info as possible!! I'm known for writing novels even when people ask simple questions!!!!
First off. the type and size box you build has ALOT to do with how the speaker will sound and the box needs to be designed properly for the type of speakers you have. not just 12" but there are alot more specs that should be considered. the type of music you listen to goes into the design. and the amount of amplifier power you have should also be considered.
If this is the first speaker box you've built this is my recomendation:
1. provide me with the answers:
EXACT make and model of the speakers
EXACT make and model of the amplifier running them
Music prefrence
Measurements of your trunk space
2. Dont even attempt to build a speaker box without a good tablesaw. you cant build a decent box with hand tools.
3. you'll need 3/4" MDF available at home depot or lowwes. and you'll need 2.5" coarse thread drywall screws and 2 tubes of liquid nails heavy duty construction and remodeling glue and the gun to use the tubes of glue. you should also consider carpeting your box since it helps 100% in appearence and it helps provide a good seal with the sub against the box.
For your first box you should only attempt building a sealed box, NOT ported or bandpass or other types. A sealed box is the simplest of boxes to build but still needs to be built with enough precision that it is air tight. even a pinhole can ruin performance.
