Audio Systems: subwoofer box, rockford punch, power bandwidth

Hi! i have a 1 piece rockford punch pro series 12inch 8ohms model SPP-128 subwoofer can you provide me the right box size so it could have a good bass sound? and i dont know if it is a free air subwoofer or a sealed type one. i have hope i can hear from you soon!

The Rockford specs on this show a pretty high Q factor but I think it will load good in a closed box - which is the easiest to build.  The bigger the better, but I would put it in a 2 cubic foot box if you can get one that big in your space.

You can get a little more bass below 50Hz out of it with a vented box, but designing the vent and the box will require some comuter gymnastics that could make it a compicated and costly design.

This driver is a little old, but that should not detract from it putting out good sound.  Also, it can handle pretty good power and has good excursion control so you can hit it with a pretty good amplifier.

In an automobile application is would work best buried in the trunk where the resonance of the trunk cavity can enhance the bass power bandwidth.
