Audio Systems: Sony projection tv, sony projection tv, 52 inch sony projection tv

Question
I have a 52 inch sony projection tv, model number kpr46dx10, i have no idea how old it is, but i'm having setting the colors. the red is really vibrant, and anything that should be white is orange, the blue shows great, but is almost too much. i have been told it was the projection tube, but its colors affected, not how the picture is projected. how do i fix this, or what parts should i be looking for to fix it.

Answer
first off, there's 3 picture tubes in it, a red, green and blue. it sounds like your red and blue tubes are starting to fail. this can be helped somewhat by having a tech come by and restore and set up pix tubes. restoring the tube 'guns' is quite a bit less than replacing them, normal cost is around $300 each, not including labor, pick up and delivery. restoring however, can and usually is done at your home. sorry news wasn't any better, but that's just the nature of projection type televisions....
