Audio Systems: what amp for my subs..., ohm subs, ohm load

Question
i am trying to find an amp for my alpine type x subs. they are both dual 4 ohm subs. so my question is, when looking for an amp do i need to check the rms wattage for the 1, 2, or 4 ohm setting?

Answer
ok, so if they're dual 4 ohms each that means you have 4 coils total that are 4 ohms each, you should ALWAYS run subs in bridged/mono mode so your options are:

all in parallel = 1 ohm load
all in series = 16 ohm load (not usually used)
series/parallel mix = 4 ohm load

so you are looking for an amp that puts out the RMS watts these subs are rated for at either a 1 or 4 ohm load, then you wire the subs accordingly.
