Audio Systems: Yamaha HTR 5960 and Infocus Projector, hdmi dvd player, infocus in72 projector

Question
Hi:
I have recently bought the following setup:
Receiver - Yamaha HTR 5960 (115W, 7.1 Channel)
Projector - Infocus IN72 (480 Resolution)
Speakers - 7.1 Infinity Speakers
DVD Player - Currently Toshiba with Component Cable, planning to but a new one with HDMI

I have couple of questions:

1) If I buy a HDMI DVD Player can I connect it directly to Projector and only connect the Coaxial Cable to Receiver?

2) What HDMI DVD do you suggest, knowing that my Projector is only 480 resolution?

3) How can I get Cable TV on my Projector, since neither the projector nor the receiver has Cable Inputs? And I dont have a set-top box, my apartment is wired directly for cable.

4) I am having trouble getting audio signal through the Coaxial Cable from my DVD, do I need to do any settings on my receiver? The audio is coming through analog (red and white) cables.

Thanks for all your help!

Answer
1)  The Infocus IN72 projector does have hdmi input.  Yes.
2)  All dvd players use the same modems for picture formatting.  So, it doesn't matter; get the one you like. My advice is not to spend a lot of money on a dvd player; they are getting cheaper all the time and unless you are a very sincere videophile you won't notice lots of difference between the various models.  HDMI players are from $69 and up.
3)  Use a vcr ($25 and up) for the front end; run cable into the vcr; use it for channel selection; feed its output to the projector.  Or, purchase an HD tuner. They are around $200 and up.
4)  Analog audio comes off the red and white outs from the dvd player. Connect them into any of the analog inputs and select for that input and you should have audio.  If you use a digital link, the receiver must have digital input and decoder built in. According to the specs Yamaha HTR 5960 has both cable and optic digital inputs.  You should be okey.  Check the owners manual for setup; some are automatic, some you must do a pre-setup function.

The above link has hookup diagrams for Yamaha products.

You can download the owners manual for the receiver from the Yamaha website (you must create an ID and Password) if you have lost or misplaced your own.  It should have detailed instructions on how to setup the system for digital audio reception.

Good Luck; let me know if you need more.
