Audio Systems: Broken stereo, voltage resistance, capacitors

Question
Hi,

I accidently plugged in my US stereo into a 220v power supply. It stopped working. So i opened it up replaced the burned out fuse. Still doesnt work... any suggestions any thing i can test for?

Thanks so much

Answer
Whoops indeed!

I wouldn't bet on being able to fix it, but if you've got your stereo opened up already you should definately check the transformer(s) - look for a round or square magnet with a bunch of wire coiled around it - and check to see if there are any coils that have broken off, melted together, or have unwound from the bobbin.
Next look for any large capacitors and check on them.

What kind of stereo are we talking about?
Do you have a multi-meter that tests for voltage, resistance, and continuity?
