Audio Systems: Panasonic in-dash monitor problems, video cables, proper connections

Question
Bought a Panasonic CY VMD9000U dvd/cd in-dash monitor system from private owner. When bought it came with no remote and when recently installed the unit itself would turn on, take or eject cds or even have motion for the screen itself, but no action at all. The screen stays blank and the unit will do nothing but turn on. Does this have anything to do with a security code, because we installed a Panasonic unit in my friends car and it did the same thing until we recovered the remote and put a security code in, then it work just fine with no problems. Please help me out, im stuck at this point.

Answer
Page 86 has a reset instruction; please check your manual.

I don't think this unit has the anti-theft code requirement; at least I could not find it in the owners manual.

But, you may need the remote to actuate some of the set up features.  You can get the remote from Panasonic, I am sure.  Have you contacted their parts people for it?  Probably cost $35 or so dollars.

In the worst case you may have to double check all the wiring for proper connections to the speakers and all the video cables, etc.

In the very worst case you may have to pull the unit and bench test it.  If the unit works properly outside the vehicle then you know you have either a wiring problem or a power up problem (there are three power wires into this unit.)

Hope this helps.
