Audio Systems: Nokia Car Kit into Ford Explorer, nokia car kit, grounding wire

I want to install a Nokia Car Kit into my 01/1998 Ford Explorer. I guess there is some way to mute the radio when a call comes in - grounding wire? - perhaps you could help with how to do it?

Hi John,
This depends soley on the head unit used, some units have a "phone mute" wire, usually white, this goes to the hands free unit and mutes the radio only when "grounded".
The second option is an interface harness which fit between the DIN socket of the radio and the DIN plugs in the car, this not only mutes the radio but puts the phone through the front speakes as well.
Check out autoleads or ebay for the harness.
The NEW way is of course bluetooth hands free kit like a Parrot but as you already have the Nokia kit better go with that.
Good news, just checked and there is a Ford/Nokia kit on Ebay at the moment, ebay number 220029284996.
