Audio Systems: enhanced T V audio, external speaker output, external amplifier

We would like to connect our JVC AV-27720 to external speakers in another room and possibly in the same room as the tv. Being novices in this area, is this possible without going to a home theater type install? If this is doable what spekers would be best for a unobtrusive install.

If the tv has an external speaker output on the back you can do it.  The JVC site is down just now and I cannot look up the technical specifications, but most 27 inch tvs do not have an external speaker connection.

Now, if you want to run an external amplifier to feed the second room speakers that is a better idea because it gives you control over the sound level.  BUT: you must have audio outputs on the back of the set for that.

IF: The set has neither external speaker nor audio outputs you cannot do it without replacing the tv.
